Car won't start after replacing alternator

I took alternator off around 12 pm and put battery on charge. I went to work and when I got off, I picked up New alternator. Installed new alternator the same way the old one came off around 8 pm and also took battery off charge but when I hooked negative cable back to battery, I blew 100 amp main fuse and it won't even turn over. All other electrical works. What could be my problem?

Are you certain you didn't switch the terminals and put them on backwards? Are you sure the power supply to the new alt is on the proper post and not shorted out at some point?
