Hi,
No problem whatsoever. The easiest thing to do is fill the tank and see if it indicates correctly. At that point, I would drive it and based on the approximately MPG the vehicle normally gets and the size of the fuel tank, see if it seems correct.
In other words, if you have a 20-gallon tank and the vehicle gets 20 MPG, the gauge should be near the halfway point after driving 200 miles.
