Those are all PCM codes for engine if no codes are coming up with F then you will have to find someone who can read them for you. If engine runs okay and no check engine light is on then these are stored codes so you can disregard them if not get back to me.

Hi I filled my 1992 cadillac Deville up with freon. It worked great for 2 days. Now the compressor won't come on. I get codes f46 f47 and f48. I did some research and these codes mean low refrigerant and f48 means refrigerant problem. What could be the problem. Thanks.

I f you had to fill it and didn't check for leaks nor fixed them it's more than likely out of Freon again.

Yeah I did a nitrogen leak and vacuum on it. I let the vacuum sit for 30 minutes and the nitrogen sit for 30 minutes and it was still at the same level. But like you said I do believe their is a leak so I will take a leak detector and try to see if I can find it. If not it will have to go to an ac shop. Thanks.

The reason I had to fill it up was the old compressor locked up and had to be replaced. My friend did it at his shop and did the nitrogen test and vacuum test since I had the refrigerant he just left it in a vacuum for me.

Thn check your Freon level as it may not be that. Cadillac's with auto temp control may be a sensor bad not allowing compressor to work.

  • 1988 CADILLAC DEVILLE
1988 Sedan Deville 4.5 L with 105,000. Miles.

I have replaced the compressor, accumulator and all the hoses and lines. The car was updated to R 134.A and worked great fo about 2 weeks. It blows cold sitting at the service station and it shows the amber "Service AC" light but works fine. Then when I drive it down the road it kicks out after about a mile. I disconnect the battery ground terminal and reset it and it kicks out again at the same place down the road. ( In front of the Alligator Farm) It has the correct amount of freon so what could be wrong?

Thanks
Scott

If you replaced the compressor did you replace the screen, (sorry forgot what it was called), on a cadillac you have to erase the codes, disconnecting the battery wont do it, ac codes need to be checked, do you have gauges to check if it has the right amount of freon? What kinda cadillac do you have?
