1997 Buick Regal 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I'm having a problem with getting my key out a 1997 Buick Regal igniton switch, I need either to replace the ignition switch or the cylinder, I need help. The reason why this is an issue is, I think this key issue is infecting the battery because anytime I forget or don't feel like unpluging the battery cable, then the car will not start, but if I unplug the battery cable anytime after I drive it, then I have no problem starting the car or a dead battery.

Are you able to remove the key? Have you tried a different key?

As far as the battery issue, here is a how to for checking for battery draw:
