1997 Buick Regal car wont start

We jump start it and it runs for a few seconds than it shuts its self off. Need help

If ur altenator is bad then ur car battery wasn't being re-charged & ur car was running on ur battery. Depending on how old ur battery is running the car on it may have killed the cell's inside the battery. Bring it to Auto Zone. They test if a battery is able to hold a charge or not for free. If it will hold a charge they will charge it up for u for free in about an hour. I'd have then check the altenator too if u can bring ithe car to them, they test that free too.
