Electrical problem
1999 Buick Century 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

All four of my power windows don't work because of the main switch. I bought a new switch and a new mtor and regulator, I hooked it all up and the switch makes a buzzing sound thats when I press the drivers side button down but when I press the other buttons its doing nothing so I exchanged the switch and it does the same thing. I checked the fuses on the side and under the hood, I checked the wire with a test light and everything is getting fire but the only one thing is when I turn the lights on nothing want fire up not even the buzzing sound so what I do now all my lights work, i'm in a bind can you help me?

First look under the front seat and see if there is afuse panel there. Then make sure the motor gets power from the switch when youtry to move the ewindow. If you have a lock on the door make sure it'snot on as it will not allow the windows to work on the other positions. I don'tunderstand the thing about the lights all working now and still no windows.

You will have to start from scratch and do actual checking either with a volt meter or test light. See if you are getting power to the switch first then go from switch to motor, etc. Alot of time the wires break where the door opens. So you would have to check and see if you are getting power from the switch to the motor with the door open an dclosed. You might have a burnt up fusible link that are normally on the starter. They are smaller wires going to larger ones. If you turn the lights on and everything quits it sounds as if you have a bad ground connection. So you will have to check and CLEAN all your grounds from battery to engine, engine to body, and battery to body. It could aslo be a bad iginition switch but all this stuff has to be checked first instead of just replacing parts. If you have a manual trace the wires to the power windows, etc. But a bad ground will caue the thing to lose power when the lights are turned on. You need to explain yourself better when you have a problem like yours, including history.
