Muffler replacement?

The pipe underneath my connecting my muffler split because the pipe has been rusted and I was wondering what needs to be replaced, and how much it might cost. I have included a picture of what the problem and hopefully you can help me. Thank you" I asked this question earlier but apparently the picture did not go through, hopefully this time it does.

If the exhaust is rusted through, it has to be replaced. Here is a guide that can walk you through the steps.

Hi:

The picture didn't come through. However, if it is just a pipe, it should be under 50.00. If you need a muffler, figure around 80.00 for that and about 50 for a tail pipe. If it is the flex pipe in front of the converter/ muffler, it could be over 100.00.

Please keep in mind that the prices may be different based on where you live.

Yes you can! Just about anymuffler you can think of.

If you have a single exhaust, make sure you put on a single inlet and single outlet muffler.

Opposite with dual.

My EX sprayed a hardening foam up both muffler pipes. What would be the best way to remove that from my pipes?

Hi there,

You will not remove this, you will have to get new mufflers, the problem is that you will have to tow the car to get it repaired as if you try and drive you will do serious damage.

I was experiencing a loud noise and thought it was the catylytic converter but now I am told it is the muffler and need all new pipe, muffler, etc. What is the estimate to replace all and can't the sections with holes be replaced w/o replacing everything?

Hi ginlyn7,

The exhaust system comes in sections and you can replace each section as necessary but if one section is leaking, there is a possibility other sections might also be ready to give way anytime.

You should not have lost power from such a simple bolt on, as long as you didn't damage anything such as the cats, o2 sensors. Your power loss may be due to another issue.

If indeed nothing was damaged and your power loss is coming from the new mufflers, then I'd say there's something inside the mufflers or pipes that are causing a blockage.

But I seriously doubt it. Good luck.
