Enter your question. When trying to start our 2001 Caravan, turning the ignition key results in nothing except maybe a barely audible click. After several attempts, the vehicle starts. New battery in November. Is this the starter? And if so, is it easy for me to replace? This problem happens whether the outside air temps are in the 20's or in the 50's.

Check wires at starter and battery for good connection and blue corrosion.

Not knowing what blue corrosion is, I would presume that this is corrosion on the cable, which by virtue of the color is probably a copper cable, correct? Might it also help to remove the cables or at least loosen the screws or bolts, clean the terminals, then reattach everything tightly? If I do this and I still have problems, can I then presume I might need a new starter? The battery is new and was just installed in November and I watched the guy install it. He apparently did a good job tightening everything. I would suspect the starter at this point as it is likely the original starter to the vehicle, so about 8 years old. Would this be a good place to start, or should I maybe think about a solenoid too or first?
