When I try to start the jeep. There is no power from the battery. However the gauges on the dash seem to go crazy. Is this just replacing the battery or are there underlying problems.

A bad cell in the battery could cause those symptoms. Measure its voltage first. It must be 12.6 volts. If it is near 12.2 volts it is okay but discharged. We will have to check the charging system. If you find around eleven volts or less it has a shorted cell and the battery must be replaced.
