Would not even crank over, replaced camshaft position sensor, fuel pump, regulator, checked firing order, push lock buttons on door. It will fire up and start with throttle held down, but shuts off as soon as it starts. Help please it is my only car.

Sorry lost first part of reply. Tried security reset, no luck. Tried activating fob not sure if it is good, replaced batteries. We just bought the vehicle. I am confused it said when panic. Button was held it would shut off security. Light which it did but it will not lock or unlock doors. Should I get a new fob or does that have any effect on it? It will still fire and start but immediately shuts off. I have searched the web purchased book everything for the past week and nothing works. My husband is not mechanically illiterate he has always worked on our cars and everybody else's, but he is just about ready to burn this vehicle to the ground. Any other ideas? Thank you

You can go to auto parts and they can check to see if it works. If you replace it you have to have a good one to make new one work to program it. Also, check battery it may be bad in key fob.

If this was not working would it cause vehicle to not start? Is there a fuse or module that could be blown? Would it be smart or not to bypass security to see if that would possibly work and what are the chances of crank shaft sense if that was out it would not crank would it? Thanks again

You can try a crank sensor it will still turn over even if that is bad, but I think there is something else wrong and I canno't get to manual at moment.

I agree with HMAC300. Quite a bit of the time (reading posts) I have seen the crank sensor being the part that gets replaced.

I also observed that many times the Cherokee would drive fine for some period of time, quit running, then in an hour it would start the process again. Usually the crank sensor was the fix.

You do not need the key fob to start the car. This needs to be scanned for codes and check fuel pressure. If you have already tried to reset security system then it should be looked at by a pro.
