I got a transmission yesterday for the junkyard. I took it from a 95 Honda accord. Im wondering what kind of ATf I can use beside Honda ATF?

Castrol makes a import fluid as long as it meets the compatible rating on the back of the bottle of the fluid yoyrs takes your good to go.

The fluid of the transmission is dirty so I want to know cheap transmission fluid to clean up the transmission before I put Honda transmission in it. Any suggestion how can I clean the transmission

It s dark red. Not black you can see the red color but its dirty

I heard online that valvoline maxlife automatic transmission fluid works for hondas what you think?And I remember when I went to get some honda fluid from the dealership the guy said that honda uses valvoline machine to flush the transmission and guess what the guy put hondas fluid bottles in a valvoline plastic bag I know this does not mean nothing but.

My online repair info doessnt tell me the type of fluid yours takes the tyoe.I know the max life is ccompatible with a lot of Hondas Nissans etc. Ask the Honda the Honda dealer they type of fluid it needs and match it on the back of the bottle.

I installed the transmission. I put valvoline maxlife atf. I did a drive test it shifts hard when only up shifting what could causes that. The transmission has kick down cable

Usually a hard upshift is caused by too high of transmission pressure. Possibly a bad solenoid. Which gears does it shift hard into?You would have to do a pressure test.

All gears shifts hard but only upshifting down shifting is fine I do not feel anything

I would start by doing a transmission Lin pressure test on the transmission.

If the transmission is overfilled makes it shift hard?
I think I overfilled mine I checked the dip stick the level was upper the hatched area

Its not over filled by much is it?Usually that doesn't case hard shifting. Set the level to the correct level though.

Do I have to check the level when the engine is running? I took off almost a quart of fluid and it s now in the upper mark

With the engine at normal operating temp and on flat level ground shut the engine off and within one min check the fluid level.
