Why is my oil pressure gauge dropping to zero every time the transmission switches gears?

Check for a direct ground on the circuit. The gauge is "pegging" due to a direct ground rather than through the sensor.

Test the sensor on the driver's side front of the engine by the spark plug with a multimeter set to ohms. A very low ohms reading from the sensor connector pin to the engine block means replace the sensor.
