I have an 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer with ATC that the blower does not work in the front. I have replaced the blower motor and the blower motor resistor. Checked the old motor and it actually was fine. A friend used a tester and checked the connector at the resistor and power was there. We jumped the blower motor from this connection avoiding the resistor and it worked fine. That said we though it was the resistor so I put in a new one and the blower still is not working. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Power to the motor is from the resister, so either there is a broken or damaged wire or you have no ground to the motor. This guide will help along with instructions on the diagrams below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

You have a vacuum leak. Engine vacuum actuates the vent doors. When there is a leak, it will go to defroster and not change. Check under the dash for leaks. With the engine running, you may hear a hissing sound.

Thats interesting as that usually the resistor would correct that issue. I would take the part back and swap it for another to be sure you didnt get a bad resistor.

Look at the connectors ( the one for the car)

is it melted/ distorted/ the "males" or "females" (at least some of them) pushed back in the connector and kinda never make contact when the two parts are pushed together?

I'll give you an example with the floor dimmer switch for my '77 jeep cj-5

when it gets wet/ dirty/ corroded/ hot (over a long time) my lights flash on and off. Then off forever, 'till I get a new pigtail and switch)

see my pics at the bottom (i thought I had a pic of it actually melted and pushed back. Cannot locate it)

keep us posted

The only thing else I could think of is the switch itself.

The blower in my 2003 Expedition does not operate when it is set to the lowest fan speed (#1) position. All is well when I use any of the other three fan speeds. Any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting this problem?

This problem is slowing getting worse over the last few years. When using climate control (AC/Heater/Vent) the blower sounds like gears are stripped on level 4 (less efficient airflow and making a clicking clunking noise). More recently it began doing it on the level 3 setting. Clicking sound correlates with fan speed setting.

The rear unit also clunks but in a slow 1hz pulsing sort of way where the air surges after each clunk. Any air flow setting = same clicking rate.

Is there a way to fix this without having to buy an entire blower?

Thank you!

Remove the blower motor and see if something is in the wheel. Very often mice and. Rats get in there and make a nest

It wouldn't work on 1 and 2 speed if there were a rats nest in there. I need to know if the there are gears that can get stripped and if they are repairable rather than purchase a new blower unit.
