I have a 1500 that had a transmission issue, so it sat for a few years. So, will the price of vehicles I replaced the transmission, fuel tank and pump. I have fuel going up to the carburetor and the truck will run if I pour fuel down the carburetor, but it will not start on its own. Is this a pulse issue? If so, can you just change the pulse module or is it a part of the distributor?

Hi,

First, the injectors are powered via the injector fuse in the fuse box. I need you to confirm the fuse is good and there is power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Next, if the fuse checks good, with the key on, check for power at the red wire and the white wire at the injectors.

If the fuse is good and has power and there is no power to the injector wires I mentioned, check for wire damage between the two. I don't know where the vehicle was parked, but if it was outside, mice love to chew on wiring.

If there is power to the injectors, then check if there is a ground pulse at the dark green wire and the dark blue wires at the injectors. If there is no ground pulse, disconnect the ECM under the right side of the dash and check for corrosion that would prevent a ground.

If everything checks good, check for diagnostic trouble codes. All you need to do is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip. Here is a link that shows how it's done.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Pics 1 and 2 are the wiring schematic for the injectors.

I got it running, not sure what exactly was the issue. Went through the process of verifying power in the different areas. Unplugging each connection and reconnecting them also replaced the battery (the one I had in there was only had about 9 volts of output-- it turned the engine over easily but didn't take long for it to run down) so with the combination of the different things I did see to fix the problem of the injectors not getting power. Thanks for the insight, which really helped!

Hi,

I'm glad to know you got it fixed and thanks for the update.

I was always taught if the voltage drops below 9.6v when cranking, it will likely cause a no-start condition. In this case, which may have been the entire problem.

Regardless, please feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here.

Take care,

Joe
