When I try to start it, it will just crank. When I use ether (starting fluid) it starts and runs for 1-4 seconds then shuts off. I then have to turn the truck completely off, take out the key, and wait a minute before putting the key back in and trying again. It won’t run if I don’t turn the key to the off position and then to the on position. Thanks

More then likely this is a fuel pump issue. However, here is a guide that will talk about this issue in more general terms:

Then we need to test the fuel pressure and make sure it is okay. I suspect it is not you will need to replace the pump.

When you use ether in the intake, you are introducing fuel so if it starts with that then it is a lack of fuel that is causing this.

Here is a guide that will help with replacing the pump:

Also, I attached the process below on how to replace the pump.

Let us know what the pressure is and if it is low, I would go ahead and replace the pump. However, if it is 0 and stays 0 when need to listen to see if it comes on. If it doesn't come on then we need to check for power but we can get into that when we know the pressure. Thanks

Thanks. We replaced the C.O.R and it still want working. We have narrowed the situation down to the fuel pump and we will be buying one soon. Is there anything also I should know?

No. I think you are correct that it is a pump. I attached the process in the last post on how to replace the pump. Let us know how it makes out. Thanks
