The engine will not crank, no dash lights?

Would I be correct in saying it could be a battery or battery cables? That would be an easy enough fix I’d rather not have to change the computer. Thanks!

Hi,

Does anything electrical work on the vehicle? Based on the conversation above, it appears nothing works.

Do me a favor. Using a test light, check to see if any of the fuses in the under-hood junction box is getting power. If you look at the pic, check any of those fuses and let me know.

Take care,

Joe

I don’t have the car around me, it’s about 4 hours away unfortunately. I was looking to buy it but was curious about the possibilities it could be. Thank you!

Hi,

Jacob, did anything electrical work? If nothing did, start at the battery. Make sure the cables are in good condition, clean, tight, free of corrosion, and the ground cable is in good condition at both ends.

Also, there is a 120-amp fusible link for the charging and starting circuits. Certainly, it could have failed, but you should still have power to other places.

As far as it being a battery or battery cable, yes, either could cause it. Also, I don't feel it is a computer issue, but I don't know all the information. Heck, if it is only the starter that won't engage, it could be a number of things such as the clutch position switch, a faulty starter, a faulty relay and so on.

Let me know if you have questions.

Joe

As far as I know there is no power anywhere. I’m going sometime on Sunday to look at it so I will be sure to keep you updated!

Jacob,

Take a test light with you and check the fuses inside the under-hood fuse box. I would focus on the ones I mentioned above. When you check the fuse, you will want to confirm there is power on both sides of it.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

Also, if you have a voltmeter or multimeter, check to see if the battery has power.

Good luck and let me know if I can help.

Joe
