Engine started and then stalled. Now just cranks but will not start. Some diagnostic testing I've done already:
- I do have spark, tested on the plug wire.
- Tested fuel pressure from fuel filter. Getting 35-40 PSI pressure.

I did pull one of the plugs and noticed it was dry, that was after cranking for a minute or so.

I'm unsure of what to try next, it seems I'm not getting fuel to the engine but I have good pressure from the fuel pump. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
The engine is a 4 Cyl./ 2.0L / 8 Valve. Manual transmission.

I will check the voltage at the injectors tonight or tomorrow and post a reply.

I was able to test two of the injectors and they looked ok. The resistance on the engine side was 16 Ohms and the multimeter showed power when I connected leads to the harness. I wasn't sure what setting for the voltage, so I had it on the 2000 setting and it showed around 1980 when connected. The other two injectors are under the upper intake manifold and I didn't want to take that off unless I have to. I did check the air filter and noticed it was kind of wet, looks like oil kind of on the filter itself. Maybe that it just from the cranking I was doing the other night.

When I put the test light on the harness, it lights up but doesn't pulse, it just stays lit. Now I'm putting the test light into the harness, but I see you mentioned the red/blue wire. Do I need to pierce the wire to test the pulsing? Thanks again for your assistance.

You can remove terminal think wire clip holds it on. So don't pierce wire that will allow mioisture in. If no flash then ecu not grounding injectors.

I think I may have found the problem. I had checked the timing belt before but I decided to check closer this time. When I try to start the car, the timing belt doesn't move, like it is seized. It doesn't look broken, but it does not move when trying to start. Do you know what this could mean? I do really appreciate all of your help. I'm kind of worried now that the engine may be shot.

Well that's your answer if no dist. Movement no inj. Pulse. But you daid plugs fired that would not be possible if Tbelt stripped. Belts teeth are stripped off at crankshaft classic. When did you last change belt? If more than 60K miles then past due.

Here is the bizarre thing, I'm getting spark, everything else seems to be moving except for the timing chain. It isn't broken either, so I'm wondering if something else came loose or something. We are going to take it apart this week and check it. It was replaced about 5 years ago, probably only 20-30 thousand miles on it. From the top half the belt looks good. I'll update you on what we find when we get there.

The car is running again. The timing belt was intact but 1/3 of teeth were shredded. I checked and it was replaced about 40,000 miles ago, or at least the dealership we bought the car from indicated that. I'm wondering now if it actually was. Anyways, we put the new timing belt on, got the engine TDC and alinged with timing marks and it runs great again. Thanks again for your help with diagnosing. I would have never thought a belt would do that, but now I know to check the belt more often.
