My car will move in reverse, but not drive. It has had an erratic speedometer since I bought it six months ago.

Does it act any different if you manually put it in first gear, not drive? If yes then it could be a bad speed sensor that also sends the signal to the dash. It is not hard to change, it is on top of the transmission over the differential area.

Hi Steve, the car acts the same in all gears it revs high but no movement. Prior to this it would rev high before shifting after coming to stop.

In that case it is more likely mechanical failure. A transmission shop could run some actual pressure tests to verify that, but It sounds like it is time for a rebuild/replacement.

I appreciate your time, I am going to try something I saw someone suggest on some forum and that is try some Lucas oil said it has gotten cars that would not move in any gear and worked do you know much about Lucas oil

Lucas oil should not make a difference. I agree with Steve the transmission needs to be rebuilt.
