My 1994 Honda Accord w/ 191100 miles on it is giving me trouble AGAIN. This time it started mildly overheating today, (I drove w/ heater on to get the temp back down) then a little later in the day the part on the dash that is highlighted for "drive" starts flashing (should just be solid green) and speedometer going crazy, down to zero and up to 80 -- it even said I was going 30 as I put it in park. When I started it back up the transmission seemed to strain to get going. Once it got started it was ok (not great) but speedometer still all crazy. I am so tired of replacing everything on my car! What is wrong with the darn thing this time!

ps - I have replaced: starter, alternator, CV joints, wheel hub, valve cover gasket, new wiring harness installed, and flushed the transmission ALL within the last 6 mo. What is up with this car? Is just too old? My mom was the original owner and always maintained it really well. I am beginning to think that the mechanics in my area are just "Taking me for a ride" and not fixing my problem.

For the overheating problem:

Have the block and cooling system flushed and pressure tested, as well as inspected for leaks.
Change the thermostat.

For the speedometer, check the vehicle speed sensor.

Althought I own a Toyota, Honda's are very reliable by any imperical measurement.
Remember you have a 14 year old car and almost 200,000 miles. Things will fail, Toyota or Honda or Lexus or Acura.

If you are unhappy with the mechanic, check around for a shop that specializes in Honda's and Acura's.
We have a shop here locally that only works on Hondas/Acura.
