I was putting a new radio in my truck and had no problems; the radio was working, and I was going to bolt it in when my door dinger kicked on with key turned to on. So, I tried starting the truck and it turns over but will not start. I’m no professional radio installer but I’ve done it multiple times before and have never had this happen. I checked all my fuses and none of them are blown, but one half of my panel are not getting power. I’m not sure if I blew it up or what.

Hi,

I need to know which fuses are not working. Chances are a fuse failed before the ones you are checking. So, let me know which fuses are not working.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Check fuses 110, 111, and 112. They send power to the affected fuses. Also, note power also comes from the ignition switch, but I doubt that is where the problem is coming from. Make sure these fuses have power also.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

If they all have power both in and out, then I need you to check the wiring at the ignition switch. At the switch will be a dark blue wire with a light green tracer. See pic 1. With the key on, does it have power?

Also, when you checked the other fuses originally mentioned, was the key in the on position? I ask because some are switched.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

Okay, we need to locate the aforementioned wire at the ignition switch. If it isn't providing power, that may be our problem.

Let me know if you are comfortable doing it.

Yes, the blue wire with green tracer had power when the key was turned. Is it the wire that comes out from under the steering wheel into a plug and has a yellow outer sleeve with all the wires including the blue one?

Hi,

Yes, that sounds correct. At this point, I would disconnect the battery and remove the fuse box to see if there is evidence of damage. It seems you have power to the supply fuses that simply isn't making it to the affected fuses. Since these are in one box, the central junction box, then it seems at this point, that is where the problem is located.

Are you comfortable removing it? If you do, just make sure the battery is disconnected first Let me know.

Joe
