Check and test the airflow meter, idle air control valve and throttle position sensor, to include the fuel pressure

I think its something with the timing. I put a diifferent engine in the car a few weeks ago. We had trouble getting it started but we played with the distributor and it started up and ran perfectly fine for about two weeks. Is it possible that it knocked itself outta place because we had to make our own retainer to hold it in place. We also didnt check the timing belt. We were gonna put a new belt in but we thought we would just wait a week or so.

Doing that indicates the valve and ignition timing is off
