Not going into gear

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry with about 118,000 miles on it. This morning I drove it about 5 miles for a small errand and when I started the car for my return trip the car started but would not go into gear (forward, and or reverse), it seamed to slip into neutral. Can you tell me what could be the problem. Thank you for your time.

Its probably the transmission control module is missing an input signal and not activating a certain shift solenoid/s. To engage the gear as desired.
