(Bang Head, Bang Head) I certainly appreciate the response, unfortunately I have an Analog/Mechanical odometer! This IZ FUN, ain't it? Heh, heh.
I even had one of the secretaries at work call Toyota dealers in 2 cities with the following approach: "Oh my GOSH! My car makes this strange BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP 8 times when I turn it off! I'm worried about driving it! What does the noise mean?" The sneaky approach to get info didn't work. Just "should be OK to drive, and we've never heard it before, when do you want to bring it in?". ($$$$$- Christmas Bonus).
Internet searches useless so far, must not be using right search terms.
Don't give up, jnovack!

Excellent to have contacts in a variety of areas, the effort is greatly appreciated. It WILL be duly noted that you've gone beyond the norm regardless of the outcome, though a solution would be good. It's all about learning and passing the knowledge on. It's odd that the noise in question has never been "heard before". I do have the anti-theft system, but don't know of any speakers/chirp modules in the streering wheel area. I'm crawling around the driver's area like an insane chimpanzee trying it isolate the exact spot the beep-beep is coming from. Ah, well - I wish you a MERRY XMAS, Good luck, and Godspeed!

Thank you for confirming my current train of thought. As the airbag system checks go thru without a hitch, I kept thinking Anti-theft? (I was also wondering if I was just grasping at straws at this point). I can still turn it on/off by way of a "secret" two position toggle switch, it does go off when on, and has a little LED to the left of the steering column. Now to track down if the car was outfitted with one at the factory, and look for evidence of an after-market installation.
Hmmm.I see I have a TDS brand alarm system, no owner's manual, so far internet searches for manual or possible alarm tones/beeps generated by system malfunction produces NADA.

Ok, I believe the TDS system is made by Audiovox/Prestige. Can't find anything TDS named except key FOBs. But, Audiovox makes three alarm systems that feature the "secret" valet toggle switch just like mine - APS400, APS500, APS600. I can go to the wesite and download. Pdf format manuals and installation guides, but no troubleshooting guide regarding the beeping I've referred to. Website is:

audiovox. Com/webapp/wcs/s. Ductid=&brand=

Then enter model # to get manual(s). Sooooo, what's up with the TDS people? Seems like "they" keep a really LOW profile. Does TDS stand for "Toyota Doesn't Say" who makes the alarm system?

I FOUND the cause of the rapid beeping when car turned off, fixed my problem. You "ain't" gonna believe this one... IT WAS THE SUNROOF TILTED OR AJAR ALARM !!! Invisible from the outside, sunroof looked perfectly seated, didn't leak when I washed car. I found a SIMILAR problem described for a LEXUS, then thought "you know, I DO remember my girlfriend monkeying around with my sunroof", NAH, COULDN'T BE... I'm grateful to have found the cause, but now I must bend over so I can kick myself in the @ss over and over... THE SUNFOOF??? The Owner's manual says that an alarm will sound if the sunroof is "ajar" and the key is in the ACC or ON position. This is Baloney, since I had the key in ACC today listening to radio while vacuuming out car. Owner's manual be WRONG!
