This past winter I opened my luggage compartment it sounded and seemed like ice was present. I haven't been able to open my sunscreen all the way. I'm having to jump start my car everyday could this all be linked together what to do.

PS: Engine is a 2.0 and it is a four cylinder.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Actually, it could be related. If it is trying to open and it can't all the way, it may be drawing power and causing the battery to go dead.

However, if the battery itself is original, it may be time for a new one. Here is a link that shows how to load test a battery. Or, you could go to a parts store and have them load test the battery.

If you find the battery is bad, here is a link that shows how to replace one. However, on this vehicle, it isn't as easy.

Here are the specific directions for replacement. The attached pics correlate with these directions. The last picture shows battery location. Also, when the battery is replaced, it requires a reset to the battery monitoring system (BMS). That requires a scanner to perform.

Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Disconnect See: Battery > Removal and Replacement > Battery Disconnect.

2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner) assembly.

3. See picture 1

4. See picture 2

5. See picture 3

- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- If installing a new battery, use the scan tool to carry out the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) reset after the battery is connected.

If the battery shows good, I need you to do is check for an electrical draw when everything is off. Here is a link that shows how it is done:

There are several things in the link that may not pertain to your issue, so I need you to focus on steps 3 and 5.

When following the steps, if needed, remove one fuse at a time and let me know which one stops the draw.

I noted that you indicate no knowledge, so here are a few links that will be helpful. They explain how to use the basic testing equipment you will need and how to check wiring.

Let me know if this helps and what you find. Also, if you have questions or need help, let me know. I have one question. You said the sunscreen doesn't open the entire way. Can you tell me exactly what you are referring to? I am assuming it is with the sun roof. If that is wrong, let me know.

Take care,
Joe
