2005 Ford Escape sunroof stops and goes

On my ford my sunroof opens great with no problem, but closing it is a diffr story, so when I close it it stops like every 2 inches and I have to repress the button or sometimes even wait like 5 seconds and repress it, so my question is what wrong, how do I fix it and how do I stop it from happening again. Thanks
