Starting when hot

After driving around and doing stop, go, stop, go, and shutting off the car each time, (as in yard selling), the car at one point will not start. You get nothing, not even a solenoid click. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the car will eventually start. Someone told me they thought it was the distributor magnetic pickup getting hot. There is no distributor on this car only a coil/module assembly. What's wrong and is it easy to fix?

A heat-sensitive pickup coil is indeed a common problem with or without a distributor but the engine would crank normally, just not start. Yours doesn't even crank. A somewhat common problem is a warped coil in the starter solenoid. Use a test light to check for 12 volts on the smaller wire on the solenoid while a helper holds the ignition switch in the "crank" position when it won't crank. If there's voltage there, replace the solenoid or entire starter.
