The most likely cause of this would be fuel pressure. Let's start with checking fuel pressure when this is acting up.
Also, how long does it take before it starts normally? Do you have to wait until it completely cools down before it will start quickly again? Meaning once it is hot, it will long crank every time until it is cooled down?
Lastly when this is happening, can you cycle the key 3-4 times without cranking the engine leaving it in the on position for about 3 seconds each cycle, then crank the engine. Does it start like normal or does it long crank again?
