If possible, an important clue is how long the engine runs after you release the ignition switch from the "crank" position. If it sputters to a stop after two or three seconds, the anti-theft system is stopping the engine or you're losing fuel pressure. If it stops instantly, with no sputtering, after one second, the automatic shutdown, (ASD) relay is turning off, and we need to determine why. If the engine stops instantly, the ignition switch becomes a good suspect.

Find fuse # 9, a ten-amp, in the inside fuse box. Check if that has 12 volts on its test points when the ignition switch is in the "run" position.
