"I have a 2006 S-Max 1.8 TDCI (QYWA). The turbo, high-pressure pump, MAP sensor, injectors, new battery, IAT sensor, glow plugs, upper timing belt, crankshaft position sensor, and camshaft sensor have all been replaced. The problem is that the starting behavior is unpredictable, regardless of the outside temperature. For example, after replacing the fuel filter, it started immediately, but there are times when it only starts after several attempts. Sometimes, it starts and then immediately stalls. If it starts, I let it run for a few minutes or drive a few kilometers, then shut it off, and it still takes two attempts to start again. The EGR is blanked off. When it wasn't blanked off, I monitored the EGR signal with live data, and there was a point at 1700-1800 RPM where the signal went above 100%, causing the engine to jerk, which is why I decided to blank off the EGR. Since then, the jerking issue is gone, but the starting difficulty remains. I don't know what else to check. Thank you for your help."

It sounds like the lift pump might be weak inside the fuel tank, are there any codes? Also, have you serviced the throttle body? This is a normal service item. Please go over these guides and get back to us:

We need more information to help you. This guide can help you step by step to clean the throttle body:

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your answer!
"There is no pump in the fuel tank; the high-pressure pump has a low-pressure section that theoretically pulls fuel through the fuel filter. There is no throttle valve, so could the EGR section on the intake manifold, where the EGR actuator motor connects, be faulty? There are no error codes indicating this. For the EGR, it was throwing the P1335(00) code when it was jerking and hadn’t yet been blocked off. Also, there is a recurring code: PDM DTC B1C39:29-2F===
Code: B1C39 - Key lock switch."

Yes, the 2006 Ford S-MAX 1.8 TDCI typically has an electric fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. They would not have the high pressure pump pull through anything, FYI.

P1335 - EGR Position Sensor Signal Low Input

and

B1C39 - Passenger Airbag Deactivation (PAD) Warning Lamp

So, we have a conflict here for some reason. Like I say we don't have this car in the states so I can't look any wiring diagrams up.
