Intermittent starting issue?

2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO
104,000 MILES • 0.5L • 6 CYL • AUTOMATIC

Starts sporadically. No rhyme or reason. Replaced fuel pump and filter, gas lines, modulator. Run good once it starts. Turns over but just won't start, other times starts no problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Had it to 3 garages already.

Hi Patty,

We need to narrow down the possibilities. Here is what I need you to do:

When it won't start, see if it will start if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls or continues to run, we know it is fuel related. If there is no change with the starting fluid, then I need you to check if there is spark to the spark plugs.

Try this and let me know what you find. Also, let me know if the check engine light stays on when the engine is running.

Have not tried interventions. The truck has been starting but I don't know for how long. Will try your suggestions when it won't start again and let you know. Thank you for your help.
