93 Saturn Automatic Transaxle

I have a 93 saturn SC 2 1.9L DOHC it has 105024 miles on it was running good in tell to day. I was driving it home and I slowed down for the light and it down shifted fined but I would not shift back up in to drive. You can come to a stop and if shift up fine in tell you get to drive.

Is the check engine light on? If it is then have it scanned. If the PCM had a problem with something it will have stored a code, giving us a place to start

I was told it might be a solenoid in the trans.

Very likely. Saturn S-series trannies are unique in that they share features of a regular automatic transmission and aslo those of a manual tranny such as the gears being "shifted" by the solenoids.
