One problem is that I couldn’t reset the oil life after the new engine oil changed and sometimes a track fuel cap message automatically flashes on the dashboard, and also automatically disappears. Also, have a check fuel cap message pop up on dashboard, and automatically disappears.
What should I do in this situation? Many thanks for your comment and help!

Hi,

As far as the reset, I attached the directions below. I can tell you that oftentimes, I have to hold the button a lot longer than I would expect.

I also noticed the directions don't indicate that once you get the light to blink, you have to release the button and then press and hold it again until it resets to 100%.

Try this and let me know if it helps.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks Joe!
I have used this method for tens years for reseting oil life. But now it doesn’t work though I tried many times. When I push button keep going, the value does not change to 100%.

Hi,

If it goes through the process and doesn't change to 100%, it is likely related to the gauge control module (see pic below). However, I don't see how replacing the engine would have affected it. Are there any other electrical issues?

If the GCM is causing the issue, you should be able to find a fault code by scanning the can-bus.

Here is a link explaining how that is done:

Let me know if you have already tried this. Note: Scanning the can-bus will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. In this case, the GCM. A traditional scan tool won't be able to find the codes.

Let me know.

Joe

Good morning, Joe!
Thanks a lot for your instructions and helps!
I eventually reset oil life this morning. I checked wire connections and fuses, fuel pressure, and disconnected battery, and tried reset oil life that was successful. And check fuel cap message was also gone.
