I have a 2005 pontica Grand AM V6. I just broke the belt and bought a new one, I have changed many belts before. For some reason this belt is giving me a hard time, It seems to need to be around the motor mount to go on the pullies. Do I have to remove the motor mount replace the belt? Or is there some way of threading it throught so I do not have to take the motor mount off? Please help Thank you

You do have to remove the engine mount to replace the belt.

I can get the belt off the pulleys by relasing the tensioner, but cannot get belt up past what seems to be a motor mount. Must I remove this mount or is there some way to thread the belt off that I am not seeing?

If mount is inside the belt loop, then it must be removed.

Hello, I was wondering on how to change the serpentine belt on this car? I was told it involves an engine mount. It has the 3.4L V6 motor. What is the procedure of changing the belt on this car?

Thank you!

Put a floor jack with a piece of wood under the oil pan then pop loose the top engine mounts out. Then you can jack the engine up to get clearance to change the belt. Then you have to release the belt tenisor while removing the belt and putting the new one on.

There should be a sticker on the engine or under the hood showing the routing. If you cannot find that, you will need to tell me which engine you have.

I have a 2002 pontiac grand am. A while back the serpentine belt started squeaking, but it wasn't very loud so I left it alone. Lately the belt is really loud and gets louder as I accelerate. I wanted to know if it can be fixed and for how much. I am in high school and work at a fast food resturant, so I don't have a lot of money, but I just want it fixed and to stop squeaking.

Try spraying a small amount of water on the belt to see if the sound goes away. If it does try changing the belt.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am/ 3.4L V6/62000 miles. I bought a new accessory drive belt to replace old one. But to remove old belt, there is a heavy aluminum mounting type bracket bolted between the engine and the body that must be removed. Does the engine have to be supported to remove this bracket safely? Please help with info. Thanks. : :P

Yes you'll need to support the engine before removing the mount. Find a stable place underneath the car to support the engine. Don't use the oil pan for support. Good luck on your repairs
