I have a 1996 pontiac firebird 3.8l. My cars battery used to never hold a charge(it would die from the radio being on 30seconds after turning the car off), and so I got a new one. It ran pretty good for a while, but then it started to lose its charge again overnight. When I try to start it it turns over once very slowly and then just makes a clicking noise like a machine gun. How do I know what is wrong and what I need to replace? Thanks

It sounds like you've got something draining your car battery even when it's turned off.

Basically, you need to measure the current between the battery and ground to see how much current the car is drawing while it's off. If it's more than 50mA, you have a problem. Pull fuses until you figure out which component is causing the drain.
