Our car radio used to remain on after turning the engine off, until the door was opened. The interior lights quit working when the doors were opened the same time the delayed raido quit. I also am getting a check engine code of 41. I am wondering if my ECM needs to be repalced?

Let's not panic just yet. The code 41 refers to a condition with the ignition system. It is often considered a phantom code that is registered when something isn't right with the system for just an instant. I would clear the codes and see if it retuns. If it does, we will have to look deeper. On your radio/int. Light problem, have checked fuses? Especially the accesory fuses. Please advise.

I have cleared the codes 3 times and checked the fuses, which are all good. The radio does work when the ignition is on and the interior dome lights work when the switch is turned on, just not when the doors are opened. All of problems happened with ina week or so of each other.

There are 2 fuses that power the radio according to the diagram. #11 & #24. Fuse #11 feeds the radio memory and panel light all the time. #24 feeds the actual radio at "key on". The only thing the radio and int. Lights have in common is the ground. Both are grounded under the left side of the dash. It should be several black wires under a single screw. The diagram doesn't tell me exactly where.
On your interior lights. Do you have a remote entry system? This will makes a difference.
Engine code 41, what motor do you have in the vehicle? Please advise.

My engine size is a 3.8L and is fuel injected and I do not have a remote entry system or at least not as long as the car has been in the family for over 10 years.

The fuse for the interior lights should be #6. Is this fuse good?

Mr. Weizel,
I have not made my self very clear. ALL the FUSES are good. I do not have a problem getting the dome lights to work, the instrument lights to work, the radio to work. They all work fine as far as the fuses go.
My problem are first when opening the car door the dome lights to not come on. I have not been able to find a door switch that activates the lights in the door frame or door its self. The lights work fine if I manually turn them on.
My second problem, which started the same time as my above problem is the radio, which is working. It used to stay on until the door was opened when the key was in the OFF position. It does not stay on now when the car or ignition switch is turn to the OFF position and the door remains closed after the ignition is turn off. It does work as long as the key is on and or the engine is running.
On top off all this the check engine light came on with the above problems. When is checked the diagnostic code it read 41. I have cleared the codes 3 time now and keep getting the same one. The fuses are fine once again as well.
