1996 Plymouth Breeze Automatic 93000 miles

My 96 Plymouth Breeze has issues. It worked great this summer, all of a sudden its winter and my engine wont turn over. Its not the fuel pump because I just had that replaced 1 year ago. When I towed it to the mechanic, he kept it in his garage over night, and the next day, it turned over. And I guess the gas tank was frozen. He told me to put gas antifreeze next time I filled up. I did. The next day, it wouldnt turn over again. (By the way, I dont have a garage. Its sits on the cold streets) It has been dead for the past month! What happens is Ill try to start it, and my engine sounds like its gasping, itll sputter, but wont turn over, or sometimes when it does, it dies! Someone mentioned that it could be my battery. But everything else works when I turn the key. My lights. My music. But not my engine! I want to drive my Plymouth Breeze again. Whats the issue/s?

The battery may have enough power for the lights etc.. But not enough to turn the engine over. Try swapping the battery for a known good one and attempt to start ! Let me know

Thanks Dave H for your suggestion.
I decided to jump it because I found out that my battery was also fairly new and did not need replacing. But that didn't help any either, now when I try to turn the car on, the engine sounds like it is ticking and dying. Any other suggestions for my Plymouth Breeze?

So the vehicle does actually start up and run? It just sounds rough "ticking & dying"? Is the CEL (check engine light) showing on the dash display. If so, the vehicle needs to be read for fault codes. The vehicle has a computer (PCM) which records faults and let's tech's know in which area the fault lies. Most good auotparts stores (autozone etc.) Will read the codes for free for you if you can get the car to them?
