well, I went out to warm my car up one day while it was snowing. While i'm getting the snow off I notice smoke (maybe just exhaust, but it was more like smoke) coming out of my muffler, and I also smelled something burnt coming through my vents. I turn the car off and try to turn it back on and it doesn't start. I turn the ignition and nothing happens. All of my inside components come on (radio, lights, etc). I recently tried to jump my car and saw this white residue around my motor by the belts. A friend told me it may be a blown gasket.I''m terrible with cars and have no idea. Can you help me please. At least put me in the ballpark. Thanls

To find out if its a blown headgasket perform a cylinder compression test, if one or more are more then 25% lower then the highest cylinder you have a blown headgasket, you may also have a bad intake manifold gasket. Maybe even a cracked head. Have those looked over, if you see nothing wrong post back and well go over other problems.
