Recently I was driving down the road and without any given notice my car shut off. No stuttering. Nothing. Almost like someone flipped a switch on me. There was also no check engine light on. When I tried to restart it cranked but wont turn over. I have plenty of gas (my first thought). I followed Oldmobiles reccomendation of opening the throttle for a little bit before restarting as the engine can be flooded. I could smell the gas when I did this. But on trying to restart, the engine still cranked but turned over. I had to call a tow truck to get me home. I can't afford to take it to a shop and have them diagnos it and charge $500 like I have been quoted. Anyone have an idea what could cause the engine to shut off. And how do I go about fixing it?

Start by checking for spark out of the ignition coil. If it has it there, plug coil wire back in and check for spark at the plugs. If none, you will need a test light, get back to me

So I changed out the ignition coil. It was actually the stock one. So that fixed that problem. I ran into another problem. The bolts that attaches the metal fuel line to the fuel filter were both stripped out when I removed them. I had a guy recomment cutting the lines and replacing them with a fuel line hose. The bolt on the filter is really big (5/16 I believe). Any ideas on how to fix this also. Thank you!

They sell a repair kit usually in the help isle of your parts store. You can cut out the old line and piece in new metal lines with compression fittings. **94 blazer has 4.3l vortec engine and runs on high fuel pressure, I would not recommend rubber hose, unless you use fuel injection hose and that costs about $10 a foot.
