My olds Alero wont start, Started fine one morning wife took children to school came back parked it for aproximately one hour. Went outside to go to work and would not start. When you turn the key over everything comes on in the dash even radio. But wont crank at all. Had it towed to mechanic when it was dropped of it started up. On top of that noticed a oil leak around the transmission side of the engiene that same morning thought it was coming from sterring colum but power steering fluid is not low and the engien oil is a qaurt low.

If I had to guess on the oil, I would say you have a leaking valve cover gasket. It could be the intake gasket, but chances are higher for the valve cover.

As far as tne no start, I can't be sure without you doing a couple tests. However, since it's starting now, you can't do them. If I had to guess, I would say either you have a bad solenoid on the starter or the starter relay is going bad.

If it happens again, let me know so I can direct you as to what to check.
