I just looked up the diagram of where my fuel pump and lines are and it appears I would have to drop the fuel tank just to get to the wiring harness. Anyway of just tying up the switch to the ignition wiring instead?

Okay, no, the pump is accessible from the top. Remove the rear seat bottom and there is an access plate to get to the wiring.

Picture attached.

I had a hunch it was, just was not sure and thought I would possibly have to access it from the bottom. You are the best Roy. Accept donations?

Hello again Roy. So I removed the access plate which is the one under the removable rear seat behind the passenger and found the plug giving the fuel pump power there is a harness going through a rubber boot and then then wires connecting to the plug or socket which the blue and black is power and there is a black ground. Should I just wire it into the positive near the plug? Not a whole lot of room to splice there with a crimps and I cannot see those power and ground wires further back in the harness that split off to the power plug that connects into the socket. Please let me know when you get a chance. Thanks so much.

Okay, yes, you can tap into the power or the ground. Which ever is easiest for you.

Okay, so just ground one end of the switch to the chassis somewhere near switch location and just tap the other wire to either the power or ground wire on the plug going to fuel pump?

Just to be clear, wire the top end of switch to positive wire on fuel pump connector and just chassis ground the bottom part of switch to a good ground somewhere I mount the switch?

No.

You will cut the wire, mount one part of the wire to the top terminal and the other part to the bottom. You are putting the switch in line with the pump wire.

If you connect it the way you just stated, you will short circuit the connection.

Right, duh. Haha. I realized it later after I sent the email. I have done residential wiring but not much car audio or wiring besides a simple stereo and speakers but electricity I guess works the same. Thank you for your support Roy!

One other thing Roy, I could not find the amperage on my fuel pump and since I cannot find the fuse I guess my car uses a relay which I believe is above the fuse box compartment under the hood. So my question is my switch is, 20A 12v dc 240 watt plastic black on off switch using red 16 gauge automotive wire, is this okay?
Thank you Roy.

Sure, it is good. You can use 18 gauge as that should be the gauge running to the pump.

I would have to go buy 18 since I only have 16 gauge on hand. Will 16 work or cause a possible fire? Sorry to bother you again Roy.

No bother at all. 16 is good. It is heavier. If you were using thinner then yes, that would be no good.

The 16 is fine.

Okay just as long as it is a secure site only because we are dealing with electronic funds and such. Perhaps I can mail them a money order.
