My car broke down due to lack of oil going into my front top cylinder. The cam wear down the center cam seating in the top cylinder due to lack of oil going into the cylinder head. We later fix the oil pump which is the culprit. But we decide to grind the worn seating to clear it from contacting the cam. This will allow the cam to only rotate on for settings two by the right and two by the left. Will this work? And what effect will this have on the top cylinder performance?

When you say cam seating are you meaning the cam bearing caps?

Sir I made a mistake. I meant the cam shaft seating. That is the bottom part the cam shaft on which the cam shaft seats and rotates in the cylinder head. That is the part that worn out beyond repair. That is the that will be grind ed low so that the camshafts will not seat on it any more. The shaft will only seat on the remaining four seating.

This wil not work, you may end up breaking the camshaft it needs all the bearing surfaces to be supported.

I mean instead of five seating points of the camshaft it will now be four points. The center point is damaged. That Will be two by the left and two by the right.

No good, you cannot do it, you will loose oil pressure from the damaged journal and probably bend or break the cam, if you do it you will damage the engine, I cannot make it any clearer, this should be fixed properly or scrap the head.
