I have a 1999 Gmc Suburban with 53,000 miles on it, and a couple of weeks ago I tried starting my suburban and all it would do when I turned the key on was make a clicking sound. Ever since then it would turn on sometimes and other times it wouldn't. Now it doesn't turn on at all, but I do have power because all of the accesorries and lights work fine. About a month and a half ago I had an alarm with remote start installed. Could that be the problem, or do you think it is the starter?

If your lights stay bright:
you can check for, an open circuit in switch, your starter, open in control in circuit, high resistance at battery connection, theft deterrent system.

# deffinitly your starter, because the clicking from your solenoid and I think your starter drive might be very tired after succeeding sometime in the past.

Good luck

I have a 1999 Yukon Danali. The car would not start today. I seemed like it was not getting fuel. I turned the key on and I can hear the humm of the fuel pump. I changed the fuel filter since its cheap but still didnt start. I loosened the fuel line from the filter and the fuel spurted out so I know its going that far. I checked the wires for a spark. I poured some gas in the intake to see if it would start and nothing. Im stuck as to what the problem is. Can you help out?

Your saying, you have good spark at all the plugs, engine cranking? If so, use a gage and check for proper fuel pressure. 60--66 psi.

The other day I stoped off at the gas station, filled up and went on my merry little way. I drove about 50 miles when my truck started to sputter. I pulled off the freeway and it died on me. I got out and checked all the fluids and everything was fine. I went to go start it back up and it seemed like it wanted to turn over just not start completley. What could possible be wrong. I checked my fuses and they were all goo. My next guess was a new fuel pump but I dont want to waste the money if thats not it

I went to go start it back up and it seemed like it wanted to turn over just not start completley.

Do below to determine if its fuel or spark problem

Get a starting fluid or ether and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

I just replaced the battery and the starter, but when I try to start it it just clicks, sounds like the starter clicking? Any ideas what this might be?

Welcome to the forum. With the key in the start position, can you tell if there is a load on the starter circuit? Watch the dash lites, dome lites or something, they should react when you try to start. They should go out-- dim, some reaction, if not, I'd have to check the circuits at the starter solenoid. Will it crank in neutral? Did you check all battery connections, on both ends? There should be a starter relay in underhood fuse box, see if clicking is coming from there? With your fingers on the relay, you might be able to feel it click?

I have a 1999 Yukon that I bought from Dealer since Jan. 2007. It gave problems starting the dealer changed out the feul pump. The truck gave me no problems starting for about a month and a half. Then found out the trouble was with one of the four pronges that you plung the pump to the truck was burned out changed the connection and truck started for about another month. Started giving problems again. Had a clogged fuel filter had that I changed out a couple of days later same problem truck not starting. In the same time had to get my brake switch changed because when I pressed on brakes brake lights wouldn't come on. Also had a tune up and check pressure from fuel pump, seems that pressure was fine. While having the tune up had O2 senors changed. Was okay for about two weeks. Check engine light is on and truck is not starting. Don't know what to do Someone told me my raidiator pressure senor maybe be bad. Need to know what or where to go next. Thanks in advance for the Help !

1999 Yukon SLT won't start. 62 psi from fuel pump, there was an OBD2 code p1345 (CMP/CKP correlation) since I bought it in the middle of August. Last night while accelerating to pass on expressway, she sputtered and died. Since then I can't get her to start. Replaced CKP, eliminated fuel pump, replaced the fuel pump relay also. Accidentally cleared out OBD2 from PCM memory. It will turn over rythmatically, but occasionally will "hiccup" and backfire. I have a compustar car starter installed and that will not activate upon depressing the button either. I'm lost. Please help

Your computer needs to see a signal from the CMP and CKP before it will tell your ignition coils to fire.

Also, when you change a sensor, the wiring/connectors need to be checked, as sometimes the become corroded or broken.

If the CKP is new, and the wiring is good, then first have the computer rescanned with a scanner capable of reading the live sensor data. You'll be able to see the CMP reading. If it's faulty, then next check the wiring/connector. If that checks out, replace the sensor.

Make sure the fuel pressure is within spec and check for a hot blue snapping spark to the plugs. One will be missing. NOTE: Even though you hear the fuel pump. It may not be producing enough pressure to run the engine.

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. If you have the spider fuel system, fuel pressure is critical. Key on engine off, 60--66 psi. Also, the fuel poppets may need cleaning. There could be other issues? That was just my first thought.

Can you check for applicable codes?

Test the ignition circuit on the ignition switch

Your ignition circuit to the coil could be open -Do this get a jumper wire hook it up on the pink wire at the coil and the other end to the battery positive post.

Do you see the lights come On from the dash-if so crank engine over and see what happens.
