The whole distributor has been changed along with; crank sensor, spark plug wires, new battery, and new timing belt. Is there a possibility that the new cam or coil came defective? Is there a way to bench test them? Fuel pump does not turn on I don't hear it prime. I checked all fuses and they are okay. Please help.

Hi,

Ben, have you checked to see if you have spark to the plugs? Also, if you don't hear the fuel pump, it could be a fuel related issue. Take a look through this link and let me know if anything helps:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Try this: See if the engine starts for a couple of seconds when using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we have a fuel related issue.

Let me know.
Joe

Hi,

It sounds like the coil has failed, but to confirm, please follow these diagnostic directions. If the coil is bad, the distributor needs to be replaced. I will help with that if needed.

The attached pics below correlate with the diagnostics.

1. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.

See pic 1

see pic 2

See pic 3

2. Check resistance as shown in the figure.
For checking secondary coil, remove the distributor cap and measure resistance between coil tower metal tip 9 and terminal 7. If NG, replace distributor assembly as a unit.
