1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual a lot miles

hi the other day I went to move my frends 92 eclipse it started right up warmed it up approx 4min thenstarted to drive it it died and would not start again after many tries I have no diagnostic tools and im not sure were to begin troubleshooting if anybody can help me with this id sure appreciate it alot. Thank you. Jan.

Start with the basics.
You say that you have no diagnostic tools, but so long as you have some basic tools, a little mechanical knowledge and a chilton or hanes manual for the car you can fix a lot of things.
1. Does it have gas
2. Is it getting spark to the plugs
3. Is it "trying to start" meaning that the egine runs, but only for short time, or does it only crank over.
