Engine hesitates when accelerating

Hello, in previous posts engine will not exceed 2,500 rpm resolved. Diagnostic showed MAF sensor replaced $126.00.
Engine responds like it should. Finally. Now the engine hesitates when accelerating. Bucks upon acceleration until rpm's exceed 2,000.
The engine is rebuilt but does not have the snap it had before. Power loss is noticeable. Timing is very close if not perfect. Thanks for any and all replies. JC
