My sons Jeep overheated awhile back. Now he is getting air in the system. I replaced the cap with a new cap, had the car parked at a slope and filled the radiator with coolent and water. After he drives it for a time it gets air in the system. When the car is turned off you can hear coolent draining in the engen. If I lift the the pressure relief valuve on the radiator air comes out into the overflow tank, lots of air. After ding this I can open the radiator and I have to add moor coolent. Could this be a head or head gasket issue? Any advice would be appreaciated. Thanks in advance.

Check on upper hose near engine there should be an air release port it has a hex plug in it remove plug and fill radiator that will let the air out of system you may have to do this 2 or 3 times to get all the air out andif your jeep isn't equiped with that plug then after you fill radiator then squeeze lower hose till all air is out this is done with the cap off

When I filled it I had the top heater hose disconnected until the coolant was coming out of it. I ran it with the cap off and kept adding coolant slowly until it began to swell out. The capped it. No bleed or plug.

Ok now with engine off take cap off and fill radiator and then squeeze the lower hose you may have to do this about 5-6 times to get the air out these newer cars are not like the old ones you can't just fill and run motor to get air out sometimes you have to work the air out then after you get the air out do a pressure test to see if there may be a leak system pressure is 15psi no more after reaching the 15psi let sit for about 5 min. See if pressure drops and please let me know what you find out on pressure test
