My son was told the solinoid problem was a leaking head gasket which I disputed. But he had it replaced anyway. The mechanic said he fixed the starter, covered in oil and cleaned the oil off the engine and spray cleaned radiator. Please note we haven't had any problems, just had it inspected and was told the engine was great. Now son says the vehicle is making whistling sound that gets louder when he drives. Isn't this probably the exhuast manifold. Or what else could it be?

A whisteling noise can be many things. It could be from a belt, a vacuum leak, a part that has been moved and hitting the air flow in a different manner. The best thing to do is to open the hood and see if you can identify where the sound is coming from. Check the air intake for disconnected or cracked hoses. Also, since the engine was sprayed off, make sure the belt isn't contaminated with oil or dirt allowing it to slip and make a noise.
