2000 jaguar s-type won't accelarate

i have a 2000 jaguar s-type 4.0 car was working fine until last night i started the car put it in gear but it wouldn't accelarate. and the check engine light came on.if i put the car in driver or reverse it will move just at the speed any other car would with out accelerating but when i press the gas peddle it won't do anything

Sounds like it could be a fuel pump or Mass Airflow Sensor

the car is in limp home mode when the computer sees a major problem it locks the trans into 4th gear only limp in mode. there is a hard fault in the computer. usally a throttle motor or trans fault will cause this
