Engine Performance problem
1996 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Beginning a few months ago, it would start fine when the engine was cold, such as overnight. But when I started it again during the day it would take quite a bit of cranking. Now, it requires a lot of cranking all the time - even if it has sat overnight. Sometimes, I have to hold the accelerator down when I turn it over. It seems to run fine after it is started, although my gas mileage seems to be going down. The O2 sensor has been replaced.

Hi aarondav,

Thank you for the donation.

I would suggest getting the fuel pressure checked. If the fuel pressure is below specs, it would cause difficult starting.

If the fuel pressure is low, test the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump
