I have the vehicle listed above 2.6 4ze1 engine. When I turn the car on and the engine is cold, it'll turn on for a few seconds, idle poorly then stall. When the engine warms up this problem goes away. I am unsure what is causing this issue. I have installed a new fuel pump ( a Goss brand 51mm which was recommended by parts store) I have found that the pump does not prime due to not receiving voltage when key is in "on" position. When I crank the engine the pump operates normally. Should the pump be priming and would this be what is causing my issue?

I have also checked vacuum hoses, cleaned MAF, changed spark plugs, adjusted valve clearances, changed fuel pump relay and I don't believe there is an intake manifold leak.

To answer your question, yes. An electric fuel pump should prime when the key is turned to the on position, however we don't have a service manual on this vehicle because we don't offer this vehicle in the USA.

Based on this we are going to be limited in the assistance we can offer however, I would start with checking fuel pressure when the vehicle starts and it stalls. Then check it after it warms up. It should be the same. If it is not then we need to go down that path. If it is the same then that is not the issue.

I suspect it may not be the issue because if the fuel pump were not priming I would think it would have a long crank and then once it finally built up the pressure it would start and run normally.

Again I don't have a service manual so I can't give you specifics but this sounds more like an idle air control issue. I would suggest locating the component that controls the idle air and cleaning or replacing it. Also, clean the throttle bore to make sure it is clean as well.

Let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks
